Dear Oakley Parents and Guardians

It has been a busy final fortnight of the Lent Term in Oakley.

Ibby directed and starred in our entry for the Senior House Drama Competition. All five girls were outstanding in their roles in Arthur Miller’s A View From The Bridge. Ibby narrated as Alfieri and doubled as Rodolpho, Esinam presented a sinister Eddie, Amelie was a convincing Marco, Xenia was superb as peacemaker Beatrice and Yelly delivered a passionate Catherine. You can see the performance for yourselves via this link:

Molly’s IB2 Visual Arts exhibition was extraordinary. The private viewing took place last week in the Old Chapel and the depth and breadth of Molly’s work was incredible. What a talent!

We took the Lower Fourth out for a meal last week to take a break from School as a treat for their term’s hard work. I know Ms Perez is really happy with their progress in their first year with us and it was a lovely evening:

The whole house was treated to a house breakfast as we neared the end of term:

The Fifth Form threw Mrs Linfield a surprise baby shower before she goes on her maternity leave at Easter. They presented her with a baby basket of presents for the new arrival and the blue and white theme was a bit of a giveaway! On behalf of the Fifth Form I would like to thank Mrs Linfield for her incredible support during their tricky GCSE year and we all wish her well for a well deserved rest as she prepares to welcome a little brother to Toby.

Recent sporting events have included Nila on the football pitch, Junior House Volleyball and Molly joining me on cross-country:

It was Mothers’ Day in the UK on Sunday so the house presented Mrs Pugh with a bunch of flowers to thank her for all she does in the role of House Mother. Mrs Pugh really goes above and beyond and we are very grateful for her care of Oakley girls:

On Monday staff joined the Upper Sixth, class of 2025, at a local venue for their Leavers’ Meal. It was a lovely, relaxed evening away from School. And this morning I delivered the customary Leavers’ Assembly where we took a moment to reflect and wish each of our outgoing students every happiness and success in the future. I will send further highlights to Upper Sixth parents.

Our annual Easter Egg Hunt took place at breaktime today – you’d think the girls had never seen chocolate before!

Wishing you all a lovely Easter break with your girls. I know there will be a lot of studying going on but hopefully some well-earned rest too.

Best wishes
Victoria Adams
